Aeolus Saxophone Quartet featuring
Mark Hobson
Mark calls on his colleagues to join him in this ensemble, generally using Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones, to create a very unique sound and texture rarely heard in New Zealand. Aeolus will explore this sound using repertoire especially written for this combination and arrangements of well-known material.
Aeolus:
Mark Hobson Soprano Saxophone
Angela Mote - Andrews Alto Saxophone
Giles Reid Tenor Saxophone
Lana Law Baritone Saxophone
The programme featured original compositions by American Michael Torke, Australian Martin Kay and Christchurch Composer Glenn Forrest. With arrangements off Jazz Standards such as A Night in Tunisia, Round Midnight, My Funny Valentine and Fly me to the Moon.
As a special treat joined by another 4 colleagues (Jennie Gough, Linda Drummond, Stacey Williams and Nathan Green) to play a couple of Octets.
